Postgraduate in Management Pathway

There are three qualifications available online for International Students outside of New Zealand;

1. Postgraduate Certificate in Management

This is a 60 credit NZQA Level 8 postgraduate qualification. It is the first six months* of the 18-month Master of Management. You will complete four courses from the Master qualification, to be awarded a Postgraduate Certificate qualification and pathway to the Postgraduate Diploma in Management or Masters of Management.

Entry requirements
  • IELTS 6.5 (with no band lower than 6.0) or equivalent {including NZCEL (Academic) Level 5)}
  • Hold a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in business or related subject OR hold a Bachelor's (or equivalent) in a discipline or subject area other than business and with relevant work experience.
  • Find your country's equivalent academic entry requirements here

*Completion of the Postgraduate Certificate in Management with a B grade (65%) average or higher can be admitted into the Whitireia Master of Management.

2. Postgraduate Diploma in Management

This is a 120 credit NZQA Level 8 postgraduate qualification. It is the first-year study of the 18-month Master of Management. Postgraduate Diploma in Management graduates with a B grade (65%) average or higher can be admitted into the Whitireia Master of Management programme with (cross) credits.

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in business or related subject OR hold a Bachelor's (or equivalent) in a discipline or subject area other than business and with relevant work experience.

3. Master of Management

This is a 180 credit Level 9 postgraduate qualification that includes components of the Level 8 Postgraduate Diploma in Management programme. Students can complete a 45 credit Applied Research Project (ARP), or a 60 credit dissertation, or a 90 credit Thesis by arrangements.

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in business or related subject OR hold a Bachelor's (or equivalent) in a discipline or subject area other than business and with relevant work experience.

The Postgraduate Diploma in Management and Master of Management offer four specialisations covering marketing, information systems, digital business and innovation & entrepreneurship.

Most importantly, it allows you to select two specialisations that enables you to design your preferred professional outcome and career path.

*For online delivery all students should enrol for the Postgraduate Certificate first and then pathway to the Postgraduate Diploma in Management and/or Master of Management at a later date when resuming studies in person in New Zealand. It is not necessary to fully complete the Postgraduate Certificate online before you could come to New Zealand and pathway to the Postgraduate Diploma or Master’s. Please contact us for options.
