Whitireia and WelTec are committed to supporting Pacific ākonga and their academic success. Pacific ākonga are are a vital part of community life at Whitireia and WelTec. We have programmes, networks and a strong Pacific team who work across Whitireia (Porirua), WelTec (Petone) and Te Kahui Auaha (Wellington) to help you succeed. 

Our dedicated Pacific team are here to support and help you throughout your learning journey. We host cultural and hauora activities with a mix of ‘in person’ and ‘online’ events to connect students and staff. 

The Engagement Advisors – Pacific sit within the Pacific Strategy Team. The Engagement Advisor – Pacific role is to increase Pacific success through strengthening academic delivery, stakeholder relationships, building staff capacity and eliminating structural barriers.

Our dedicated Engagement Advisors Windy Sione (WelTec - Petone), Tuga Mativa (Te Auaha – Wellington) and Leisha Williams (Whitireia - Porirua) promote Pacific success by providing Pacific akonga across our three campus’ with study support, advocacy, pastoral and cultural support throughout their learning journey. They also support tutors with their engagement of Pacific Akonga. 

We have dedicated spaces for Pacific ākonga in Petone and Porirua. You will find a friendly and welcoming place to study, socialise or get advice and support. Come visit us.

Location: Te Kete Wananga Foyer, A102, Porirua 

Hours: Monday to Friday, 7am-6pm. Weekends 7am-6pm

Pasifika Centre  

Location: Student Hub, Petone 

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm. After hours by appointment.
